<p>Dinner: 5 oz broiled halibut steak, 1/2 cup of green beans sautéed in garlic, small baked sweet potato and a small green salad with apple cider vinegar and olive oil dressing.</p>

<p>Don&#8217;t even get me started on the use of chemicals by manufacturers of processed foods. I can&#8217;t even pronounce the names of some of these chemicals. You might think I was reading the label on a can of bug spray instead of the ingredients in your favorite foods to microwave.</p>

<p>The average person consumes about 150 pounds of sugar per year. Sugar is found in almost everything it seems. We eat tons of it without even realizing it. So what&#8217;s the problem? And, if you think you&#8217;re going to drop a few pounds quick with artificial sweeteners, think again. These sweeteners stimulate the appetite and make you eat more.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve probably tried diet after diet like I did, and none of them offer lasting results. It can definitely make you want to give up. But you owe it to yourself and your family to live a healthier life possible. Processed foods, sugar and artificial sweeteners are the main culprits in weight gain. <p>I would start with buying organic meats and dairy products. The regular versions of these two types of foods are loaded with pesticides, antibiotics, and other troubling chemical substances. Since dairy products are so low on the list of things to consume (really, I only advocate organic butter), then it makes sense to buy the highest quality you can.</p>
